In addition to this, the band’s Barry Burns has stepped in to score the award-winning new film Everybody To Kenmure Street.
The film is directed by Felipe Bustos Sierra, and it traces the events of May 13th, 2021 after a UK Home Office dawn raid in the Glasgow area of Pollokshields. Local residents rushed to the streets, engaging with police across an eight-hour stand-off to prevent the removal of their neighbours.
The soundtrack features 15 new songs composed by Barry Burns, alongside a cover of Lee Hazlewood’s ‘Your Sweet Love,’ performed by Barry with vocal input from Scottish singer-songwriters Rachel Sermanni and Alana Rae.
In a neat twist, the title track – ‘Kenmure Street’ – features Glasgow’s oldest choir, the Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association, who perform in both Gaelic and Urdu.
