Arsenal set Gabriel Jesus price
Soccer
According to The Athletic, Arsenal plan to get a figure up to £20million for the services of Gabriel Jesus this summer.
Several clubs have been in contact with the newly crowned Premier League champions over the possibility of signing Jesus, and they’ve apparently been given a price in the range of £18-20million for the striker who has a year left on his contract with the Gunners.
Though he never really established himself properly either at Manchester City or at Arsenal, the 29-year-old has now won the Premier League five times. This season, he missed a large chunk of the season as he recovered from an ACL tear.
Speaking to the press back in December 2025, Jesus said he would love to return to Palmeiras one day, but that day had not come yet as he felt he had unfinished business at Arsenal. However, he remains behind last summer’s arrival Viktor Gyokeres, as well as Kai Havertz, in the pecking order for the central attacking role in Mikel Arteta’s team.

Super Eagles and Olympique Marseille midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi has weighed in on Nigeria’s long-term plans as they gear up for Saturday’s Unity Cup final against Jamaica, Soccernet.ng reports.
The three-time African champions will face their Caribbean opponents in the final of the four-nation tournament for a second consecutive year this weekend, after winning the last edition on penalties.
Nigeria, who have won every edition so far, are currently in a transition phase after recent disappointments. The Super Eagles have already missed out on two consecutive FIFA World Cup tournaments, including next month’s edition in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, after they were beaten by DR Congo in the playoff final on penalties.

Head coach Eric Chelle handed debuts to several players in the 2-0 win over Zimbabwe on Tuesday. One of them, Femi Azeez, scored two brilliant goals to secure victory, while several others also impressed in what was a promising sign for Nigeria’s future.
Soccer Tochukwu Nnadi reveals Super Eagles’ long-term plans
Nigeria face Jamaica on Saturday, hoping to continue their dominance in the Unity Cup tournament which could set the tone for future success for the national team.
Since winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013, the Super Eagles have struggled for consistency on the continent and also on the global stage. They failed to qualify for the next two editions of the AFCON and have since finished second once and third twice, including at the 2025 edition in Morocco.
With Nigeria preparing for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, several fresh faces have been integrated into the squad and expectations are high that the team could finally end their long trophy drought and win a first continental title in years.

Speaking in an interview, Olympique Marseille midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi, who delivered a strong midfield performance in the win over Zimbabwe, backed the team to win the Unity Cup and also revealed that the squad is ready to fight for trophies as they come, especially at the next AFCON tournament.
“We’re here to win the Unity Cup. I won’t say anything about the Poland and Portugal game. First, we get the job done here and then we see what happens”, Nnadi said in an interview on the Super Eagles official X account.
“This time we have to win everything and when the time comes we will fight. Last AFCON we had a great competition, but in the end we didn’t win but we came out third. This time, we have to fight and see if we can win the AFCON and hopefully we win more trophies for the Nigerian national team.”

Nigeria’s immediate focus is now on Saturday’s Unity Cup final against Jamaica, as they aim for a fourth consecutive title win at the tournament.
The Super Eagles will then face Poland and Portugal in two friendly matches next month, before turning their attention to qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to begin in September.

Two-time Czech Champion with Slavia Prague, Igoh Ogbu, has revealed what the Super Eagles of Nigeria must do to avoid defeat against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in the 2026 Unity Cup final, Soccernet.ng reports.
Femi Azeez scored a brace in the semi-final against Zimbabwe for Eric Chelle’s men at Charlton Athletic’s Valley Ground on Wednesday.
Their final opponents, Jamaica, needed goals from Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon to defeat India. Ahead of the final, Ogbu, who played 90 minutes against Zimbabwe, has warned his teammates against complacency.

Soccer Unity Cup: Igoh Ogbu states how Nigeria can defeat Jamaica
Quizzed about his experience against Zimbabwe by Footy Africa, the 10-cap Super Eagles defender said:
“It was a very tough game, especially in the second half, but we thank God for the victory. It was not easy at all
“It went well in the end. The boys did well, they pushed hard and now we have to enjoy the win and focus on the next game.”

Looking ahead to the final against the Reggae Boyz on Saturday, the ex-Lillestrom SK defender urged his teammates to remain calm when the game starts, and victory will be assured.
“We have to keep our heads straight, keep working hard and continue doing our best because it is a privilege to play for Nigeria.
“Now that we are in the final, we understand what we need to do.
“We will recover and prepare well because the reason we came here is to win and retain the title,” Ogbu concluded.

The final against India will be played at Charlton’s the Valley Stadium, and kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 PM.

‘Just the baseline’ – Ex-Super Eagles midfielder reacts to Rangers’ NPFL triumph
Soccer

Former Super Eagles and Santa Clara midfielder Garba Lawal has revealed that NPFL Champions Rangers International have a lot of work if they’re to compete on the African Continent, Soccernet.ng reports.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu led the Enugu-based side to their second league title in three years, secured after their final Matchday 38 2-1 win over Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan.
The NPFL triumph guarantees an automatic CAF Champions League ticket for Rangers, but Garba believes there’s so much work yet to be done for Ilechukwu’s men to transcend their domestic success to the continental level.

“Look at Enugu Rangers—their recruitment for next season has to be massive. It makes no sense to win the league, play one round on the continent, and get knocked out,” Garba Lawal said in an interview with Footy Africa.
“That is entirely pointless. The moment you secure a continental ticket, your mentality, philosophy, and methodology must completely shift. You are no longer just playing for a club; you are representing the nation,” the 52-year-old continued.
On a larger scale, the Atlanta 96 Olympic-winner admitted the NPFL need proper investment to keep their best talents in the league, while improving the infrastructure.
“With proper funding, our league can attract top continental talent again, just like the days when Ghanaian stars flooded the Nigerian league,” Lawal noted.
“But our current crop of players must understand that the continent is a completely different ball game. Winning the domestic league is just the baseline.

Soccer Garba Lawal weighs in on NPFL, CAF Champions League low awareness
Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Moroccan side AS FAR in the CAF Champions League final ten days ago, but Lawal was frank in his opinion of the biggest final in Africa’s club competitions, claiming several people weren’t aware that a game of such magnitude was being played.
“Many people don’t even know these matches are happening,” the ex-Roda JC midfielder lamented.
“The media coverage remains incredibly poor compared to how UEFA competitions are broadcast. This is Africa’s premier club competition—our equivalent of the European Champions League—yet it is treated so lightly.
“Unless you actively follow African football, you probably wouldn’t even know the final between AS FAR and Mamelodi Sundowns was taking place.
“CAF needs to do more. They must invest serious effort into promoting African football properly,” Garba Lawal concluded.

Remo Stars, meanwhile, lifted the NPFL title last season and have been relegated to the NNL after finishing the campaign just a point below 16th place.

Wallsall’s Courtney Clarke and two other Jamaica players who can hurt Super Eagles in 2026 Unity Cup final

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup at the Charlton Athletic Valley Stadium on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
After the double from debuting winger Femi Azeez against Zimbabwe sealed a final berth for Nigeria, Clake Courtney and Dixon Kaheim scored against India to set up a rematch of the 2025 Unity Cup final for another year.
Ahead of the final, Soccernet.ng highlights three players with the ability to hurt Nigeria in the final on Saturday.

Soccer Three Jamaica players who can hurt Nigeria in the Unity Cup final
1. Clarke Courtney
The 23-year-old didn’t have the best season with Sky Bet League Two side Walsall, but was a constant thorn in the flesh of the Indian defenders last night.
Courtney scored a brilliant curler, sending the ball into the top corner, beyond Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, and the Super Eagles have to be wary of the threat posed by the Jamaican.

2. Kaheim Dixon
The Charlton Athletic winger scored the second goal for Jamaica against India, but the process involved was just as brilliant.
Dixon showed quick feet to beat three defenders before squaring the ball beyond the goalkeeper to help the Reggae Boyz seal a final spot against the Super Eagles.

3. Bailey Cadamarteri
The AFC Wrexham striker didn’t find the back of the net against India, but his hold up play was just as important for Jamaica. He constantly troubled the centre-backs.
To reduce his impact, Igoh Ogbu and Chibuike Nwaiwu would have to be at the top of their game.
