India Concert Axed for Controversial Rapper Kanye West Due to Safety Issues

Kanye West’s long-awaited India concert just hit another major roadblock. The rapper’s New Delhi show was officially suspended after authorities reportedly raised security concerns tied to the current situation in the city.

The concert was scheduled for May 23 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and would have marked Kanye’s first-ever performance in India.

Organizers White Fox confirmed the cancellation Friday through an Instagram statement shared with fans. “We are deeply disheartened,” the statement read. It further explained that government and law enforcement agencies have issued directives to prevent the event from moving forward.

According to the organizers, safety concerns became the deciding factor after officials warned about the “sensitive time” currently unfolding in the capital city. The company also stressed that months of preparation had already gone into the concert, which they described as one of the biggest live productions ever planned in India.

Fans, understandably, were not thrilled.

The show had already been postponed once earlier this year. Kanye’s India debut was originally set for March 29 before organizers pushed it back because of rising geopolitical tensions connected to broader global conflicts and regional concerns.

Now, the May date is gone too. Still, the concert may not be dead forever.

According to TMZ, a source claimed organizers are now discussing a possible October reschedule with Kanye’s team. White Fox also confirmed conversations are ongoing regarding a new venue and future date.

For now, though, ticket holders will receive full refunds through the official ticketing platform.

Over the last year, multiple overseas appearances tied to the rapper have reportedly faced delays, cancellations, or outright shutdowns. A recent U.K. festival appearance also collapsed amid controversy surrounding Kanye’s public statements and travel complications. Reports additionally claimed another planned show in France was suspended for similar reasons.
