Depot After Dark: Steelers Pub, Clark Thinks Taylor Would’ve Been Good Fighter, Vince Williams In Ireland

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for March 27.

STEELERS PUB

The Steelers are Pittsburgh’s team, but they’ve got plenty of fans outside of the city. That includes in other countries, such as Ireland. The Steelers traveled there for the country’s first regular season NFL game, and they’re trying to continue building their fan base there.

Steelers Ireland shared on Twitter that the team has partnered with Mahon Hospitality Group to make Kennedy’s Pub and Restaurant in Dublin its official pub. There are plenty of places in Pittsburgh for fans to gather and watch games. However, fans in Ireland now have their own designated spot to enjoy their Steelers fandom together.

CLARK THINKS TAYLOR WOULD’VE BEEN GOOD FIGHTER

The 2000s Steelers were defined by their defense. That unit helped them win two Super Bowls, and it contained several players that were known for their hard hits. Troy Polamalu and James Harrison are the most notable, and Ryan Clark dealt out his fair share of big blows, too. However, Ike Taylor’s toughness might be underrated.

Clark recently appeared on the MMA Junkie YouTube channel and talked about how tough Taylor is. He thinks Taylor could’ve been a champion-level fighter had he pursued that career. While Taylor might not have had as many big hits, Clark says that Taylor wanted to fight more than any other football player he’s met. Thankfully for the Steelers, Taylor chose football over fighting.

VINCE WILLIAMS IN IRELAND

Vince Williams was an underrated part of the Steelers’ roster during the 2010s. He initially started out as a key special teams player. Then, his role grew, and he helped shore up their inside linebacker position. He retired following the 2020 season, but he’s still involved with the Steelers.

Williams helped the Steelers run a children’s flag football event in Ireland recently. Steelers Ireland posted a video on Twitter showing Williams mic’d up there. It looks like he and the kids had a fun time, too.
