Manga ‘Tetsunabe no Jan’ Gets TV Anime for 2026

Production company NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan opened an official website on Monday for a television anime adaptation of Shinji Saijyo‘s Tetsunabe no Jan (Iron Wok Jan!) manga, revealing the main staff, an illustration (pictured) by Saijyo, and a super teaser promotional video. The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

The original comedy gourmet manga ran in Shounen Champion from June 1995 to March 2000 and was compiled into 27 volumes. Saijyo began serializing the Tetsunabe no Jan! R: Choujou Sakusen sequel manga, in November 2006, which concluded in December 2010 and was collected into 10 volumes.

A spin-off manga titled Tetsuhai no Jan! (Iron Tile Jan) began serialization in Kindai Mahjong magazine in August 2015 and ended in December 2017. Another successor series, Tetsunabe no Jan!! 2nd (Iron Wok Jan!! 2nd), launched in January 2017 in Dragon Age.

The original manga was licensed in English by ComicsOne from 2002 to 2005, before the license was transferred to DrMaster.

Synopsis
Jan Akiyama, a cocky arrogant teenager wants to fulfill his grandfathers wish of defeating his arch nemesis Mutsuju Gobancho. When he arrives at the Gobancho restaurant he meets his granddaughter Kiriko Gobancho. Their rivalry is easily compared to theirs grandfathers, for Jan believes cooking is about competition and Kiriko believes cooking is about heart. (Source: MU)
