‘Let’s put football politics aside’: Laffor opens up on Pitso Mosimane’s Sundowns return

Pitso Mosimane’s time at Mamelodi Sundowns will never be forgotten. He turned the club into African champions. Under his leadership, Sundowns won the CAF Champions League in 2016.

That team included the explosive winger Antony Laffor, who played a vital role. Pitso and Laffor enjoyed immense success, dominating both locally and internationally. Their chemistry brought glory days to Chloorkop.

Pitso built a winning machine, and Laffor was part of that golden era. Together, they lifted multiple trophies, including several league titles. Their success inspired many and raised the club’s global profile. Those memories still echo in Laffor’s heart.

Former Sundowns winger Antony Laffor has made his feelings clear—he wants Pitso Mosimane back at Chloorkop. Sharing on Instagram, Laffor said, “Coach @therealpitsomosimane, only if you could get a chance to take over our beloved club @sundownsfc. Next season Champions League is sure. Let us put football politics aside.”

Laffor’s heartfelt words reflect frustration. Sundowns, once a dominant force under Pitso, have lost their spark. The team’s performances under Rulani Mokwena lacked that powerful African presence. While domestic titles continued, continental glory slipped away. Laffor believes Pitso is the man to restore Sundowns’ African dominance. His passion for the club remains strong.

He urges the club to overlook internal politics and focus on football success. Laffor sees Pitso as the only one who can bring back the Champions League. His message is loud and clear—Sundowns must rise again, and Pitso Mosimane is the answer.
