Native USDC and CCTP V2 Coming to World Chain

With over 25 million users across 160+ countries, World Chain isn’t your average blockchain. Until now, users on World Chain’s World App have relied on a bridged version of USDC.

Nearly two million people already use it to send funds, pay for goods, or access financial tools in the app’s growing network of Mini Apps. Let’s discover more about this important news for World chain.

Native USDC for a Global User Base

That upgrade is coming soon in the form of native USDC. It is issued directly by Circle and fully backed by cash and cash-equivalent assets. Circle will automatically convert all existing bridged USDC on World Chain to native USDC. Why does that matter? Native USDC is regulated, audited, and globally trusted. For millions of users. This means safer savings, faster payments, and access to a digital dollar that works across borders.

According to Chainalysis, stablecoins made up nearly 60% of all crypto transaction volume in 2023. Much of it coming from emerging economies. World Chain’s wide reach gives native USDC a strong on-ramp into regions. Here, stable and reliable money is in high demand.

CCTP V2: A Cross-Chain Boost

Alongside native USDC, Circle is also bringing in CCTP V2 (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol), a tool that makes moving USDC between chains faster and more cost-effective. Think of it like an express lane for digital dollars. This upgrade will help developers build smoother apps, reduce costs for businesses, and simplify the experience for everyday users.

CCTP V2 also opens the door for World Chain users to participate more fully in the DeFi ecosystem, where composability—how well apps work together—is key. Developers will be able to plug USDC into World App Mini Apps with ease and reach a truly global audience.
