AER Rents’ new depot at the Metropolitan Business Park in Newcastle will house Chippindale Hire & Sales, Welfare 4 Hire and Hudson Lifting – all together for the first time.

The new site enhances Chippindale Hire & Sales’ current operations in the city, providing expanded space for plant, site cabins and attachments. Additionally, a dedicated building is expected to support the growth of Chippindale’s tool hire.

Welfare 4 Hire is moving to the new larger premises from Birtley, with the increased capacity and improved facilities supporting a significant investment in welfare and toilet units.

Hudson Lifting has its roots in the southeast of England but opened depots in Portsmouth, Bridgwater and Birmingham last year. Moving in with Chippindale and Welfare 4 Hire makes Newcastle Hudson’s first location in the north of England.

AER Rents chief executive Gavin Pitt said: “This new depot is a fantastic example of the strength of our group companies working together. By bringing Chippindale Hire & Sales, Welfare 4 Hire, and Hudson Lifting under one roof, we can provide a more comprehensive service to our customers in the northeast and beyond.”

Welfare 4 Hire managing director Adam Dimmock added: “Relocating our northeast depot enables us to invest further in our fleet, infrastructure and people. It’s a move that not only supports our regional growth but also strengthens our expansion into Scotland, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional service.”

Chippindale Hire & Sales managing director Paul Blake said: “The additional space at Metropolitan Business Park allows us to scale up our operations and introduce a significantly enhanced tool hire offering. This expansion will provide our customers with even greater choice and availability.”

Hudson Lifting managing director Jeff Hudson added: “Establishing our first northern depot is a key milestone for Hudson Lifting. We are excited to bring our expertise and comprehensive range of lifting equipment to support projects across the region.”.

AER Rents Group, which is owned by Ireland’s O’Flaherty Holdings, acquired Welfare 4 Hire in 2021,  Chippindale Plant in 2022 and Hudson Lifting in 2023.
