Kannada actress Ranya Rao has made shocking revelations, admitting that she learned how to smuggle gold by watching YouTube videos.
Ranya was recently arrested at Bangalore airport after returning from Dubai, carrying gold jewelry worth ₹12 crore. She is currently under police interrogation.
In her statement, she claimed, “On March 1, I received a call from an unknown foreign number. I was instructed to collect gold at Dubai airport and deliver it to Bangalore. This was my first time smuggling gold—I had never done it before or purchased gold illegally.”
Detailing her smuggling method, she added, “I learned the process by watching YouTube videos. I bought bandages and scissors from the airport, hid the gold bars on my body in the toilet, and covered them with bandages.”
Ranya also stated that she had no idea who had contacted her. “The person who handed me the gold disappeared immediately. I had never met them before,” she said.
She further revealed that she frequently traveled to Dubai for photoshoots and real estate business and had also visited European countries, the U.S., and Africa.
Following her confession, authorities are conducting further investigations into the case.
