Omos hasn’t worked a WWE match since he participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on April 5, but it appears he’s moving closer to a return. On Friday, news broke that the 7-foot-4 giant is set to make his debut with Pro Wrestling Noah, a promotion in Japan.

Omos will be teaming with Jack Morris and challenging for the GHC tag-team titles, per the promotion’s official X account. Here’s Omos’ introduction video.

Besides a stint as AJ Styles’ bodyguard that led to a 133-day run as tag-team champions with the Phenomenal One, Omos’ WWE career has been mostly non-descript.

WWE repeatedly entered Omos into feuds with the likes of Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar, only for him to be beaten and used to re-establish powerful superstars. Omos has the look of the traditional WWE giant.

He’s massive and has mastered looking menacing. However, that gimmick couldn’t be further from his actual personality. Omos paints, always comes off as pleasant, and is highly intelligent and thoughtful.

You can see and hear all of those qualities in the interview below from a recent episode of The Undertaker’s podcast.

Unfortunately, WWE hasn’t figured out how to market him beyond basing everything on his size. Let’s be real, he is a legit 7-foot-4, so ignoring that in the world of professional wrestling makes no sense.

It’s probably not a coincidence that Omos was a guest on The Undertaker’s podcast and that, within the same week, he showed up at Pro Wrestling Noah.

WWE could be preparing him for a re-launch of his character, and it’s possible this might be related to the promotion’s upcoming debut on Netflix.

Omos hasn’t been announced for the kickoff of Raw on the streaming platform, scheduled for January 6, but I’d suspect all sorts of surprises to be delivered as WWE attempts to make a mark on Netflix.

In any case, I’m hoping Omos’ next run on WWE programming is successful and that he’s utilized as the unique giant he has the potential to become.

Other WWE News – Smackdown Reaction

The road to the Royal Rumble is in full swing. In an epic final sequence, Kevin Owens manipulated his way into a ladder match against Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship.

It feels like the end of Rhodes’ run as champion might be near. WWE has been very particular about allowing Rhodes to be pinned. In a ladder match, Owens could win the title without having to pin Rhodes.

How amazing would it be if Owens wins because Randy Orton appears and RKOs Rhodes, kicking off a feud between the old friends? Yes, that would be epic.

In the other major storyline, things are coming to a head in the who-ran-over-Jade-Cargill angle. Nia Jax accused Bianca Belair, which led to a six-woman tag team match. Bianca, Naomi, and Bayley defeated Nia, Candice LeRae, and Tiffany Stratton.

The latter was seconds away from cashing in the Money in the Bank before Lerae stopped her. I’m going to enjoy watching those angles unfold.
