Dave Portnoy Exposes ‘Loser’ Zach Bryan for Alleged Planned UFC Shoutout

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

It turns out Dave Portnoy actually isn’t done talking about Zach Bryan just yet.

On Wednesday, November 20, the Barstool Sports founder took to TikTok to address a reported incident at UFC 309 on Saturday, November 16, where Bryan’s name was mentioned during a post-fight interview – one that his ex-girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia was attending. Portnoy, 47, didn’t hold back, calling the 28-year-old singer “a small, little, pathetic man” after hearing the mention.

The incident in question occurred when UFC fighter David Onama, who had just won his match, gave a shout-out to Bryan during his ring interview with Joe Rogan. In the interview, Onama, 30, says, “I want to come back here next month to watch, what’s it called, Zach Bryan in concert.”

Portnoy explained in the video that the victorious fighter was asked about the “Pink Skies” singer previously by Bryan’s team –– something Onama admitted to another podcaster. He then goes on to share a clip of the admission, where Onama reveals, “His manager, his team, reached out to my team begging for a shout-out,” referring to Bryan’s promotional team, calling it an “odd” situation.

Portnoy, visibly irritated in the video, further criticized Bryan for allegedly paying for the mention. “We get you’re world-famous, Zach, but you don’t need to bribe people to say your name. You’re a pathetic little man,” Portnoy said in his rant, seemingly referring to his diss track released a few weeks ago titled “Smallest Man.” He further jabbed, “Everybody knows you’re a f**ing piece of s**t loser.”

People in the comment of the CEO’s video seemingly agreed for the most part. “He literally said “what’s it called, Zach Bryan” ????,” noted one fan. Another stated, “The receipts are going to EATTTTTT every time,” referring to Portnoy’s fact checking. A third commented, “This has got to be humiliating for Zach and I love it.”

At the fight, LaPaglia, 25, was seen giving Bryan’s song “Something in the Orange” a thumbs-down when it played at the event. The BFFs podcast host –– who is Portnoy’s co-worker –– has since accused Bryan of emotional abuse and revealed that he asked her to sign a $12 million non-disclosure agreement to keep quiet about their relationship.
