Kier, Tilbury Douglas and Morgan Sindall have each scooped four spots on a bumper construction framework covering the south of England.

The three contractors won places on Southern Construction Framework (SCF Construct) lots for the South West, the South East and London, which cover work worth more than £4m each. The trio also took spots on a £1m-£5m job lot covering the south-west of England. The framework replaces a £5.25bn four-year iteration that ends this year.

Galliford Try, Willmott Dixon, ISG and Graham took three spots each. See box, below, for the full breakdown.

Work on the bumper SCF Construct framework will cover all sectors including education, health, leisure and local authority work. All public bodies in the area are able to use the framework.

The framework itself begins on May 2023, and will last for four years.

It also includes a fourth lot for the first time, which covers more local contractors and work worth between £1m and £5m in the South West.

Galliford Try chief executive Bill Hocking said the SCF represented “a key strand of our sustainable growth strategy”.

He added: “We are delighted that we will be working once again with our partners at the SCF as we continue to deliver a proud track record of high-quality public-sector buildings across the region.”

Morgan Sindall Construction managing director Pat Boyle said: “As a business that has deep roots across London and the South, we are proud of our track record of supporting placemaking, producing lower-carbon buildings and delivering impactful social value via our Intelligent Solutions approach.

“Our ability to bring together digital and platform design capabilities with modern construction methods and carbon-reduction tools puts us in a position where we can make a positive contribution to everything that SCF 5 sets out to achieve.”

Tim Chell, regional director for the Western region at Bam Construct, which also won a place on the framework, said: “Our roots, and track record and commitment in the South West, are deep and so our appointment to this fifth generation in the South West is a great sign that the trust our clients have put in us to work with them to enhance their working, healing or learning lives is being recognised.

“This appointment also allows us to build on an excellent partnership with the Southern Construction Framework team, for whom we have already created many very special buildings.”
