Bayern Munich have confirmed midfielder Jamal Musiala has undergone minor surgery, but he will be available for the start of the 2026-27 season.
Musiala’s “minor, routine surgery” was pre-planned following his serious injury at the Club World Cup last summer, when he suffered a fracture of the fibula and an ankle dislocation.
The 23-year-old featured 24 times for Bayern in 2025-26 across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing six assists as they won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
He also made four appearances at this year’s World Cup for Germany, who were knocked out in the round of 32 on penalties by Paraguay.
Bayern released a statement on Monday which read: “Jamal Musiala has undergone minor, routine surgery following his return from the World Cup.

“The procedure is part of the standard medical protocol following his serious injury last summer and had long been scheduled for the period after the tournament in North America.
“Thanks to the procedure, the attacker will be able to complete pre-season according to a clearly structured plan, ensuring he’ll be back in time for the first of FC Bayern’s competitive fixtures.”
Bayern’s first competitive game of the 2026-27 season comes against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on August 22.
Their Bundesliga title defence begins against Stuttgart at home on August 28, while Vincent Kompany’s side face Osnabruck in the DFB-Pokal five days later.
