OnePlus has confirmed that it will augment its sub-flagship Ace series of Android smartphones with a new 2V model. It will distinguish itself from the line’s current flagship with a high-end MediaTek chipset rather than one from Qualcomm, and, as it turns out, with a new build too. Its OEM has scheduled it for an initial early March 2023 debut in the Chinese market: an announcement that has sparked speculation that it may be offered elsewhere under a different name later in the year.

OnePlus China’s president Li Jie has now officially introduced a whole new variation on the OEM’s growing Ace line of sub-premium Android smartphones – poetically enough, the new suffix in question is V, “for victory“, as the executive has proudly announced.

This upcoming alternative to the second-gen Ace flagship will be shooting for its own wins by swapping the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for the Dimensity 9000 processor. Nevertheless, should AnTuTu Benchmark’s latest OnePlus leak chime with that official spec preview, the 2V (or “PHP110“) will also be capable of cracking the million-point mark with a top-end 16GB RAM/512GB internal storage/Android 13-powered SKU.

These tips have fueled rumors that the 2V would share a 2023 flagship design with the Ace 2; however, while the 2V fits into its line with an Alert Slider and Ace Pro-esque colorways, it will debut with a very different rear camera hump.

In fact, its triple rear cameras have now been revealed as distributed across 2 separate round cut-outs, in a manner almost suspiciously reminiscent of 2022 OnePlus smartphones that just happen to ship under the Nord brand instead.

Accordingly, the Ace 2V might be exclusive to the Chinese market for a while following its March 7 debut in Beijing, yet may become less so on its subsequent re-brand for other regions later in 2023.
