Huawei has released the Watch Buds outside China. Equipped with a large AMOLED display, the Watch Buds resembles a regular smartwatch. However, it also contains a pair of TWS earbuds that Huawei hopes will resolve the need to carry a smartwatch and earbuds separately.

Huawei has launched the Watch Buds outside China, just over two months after debuting the innovative smartwatch in its home market. To recap, the Watch Buds has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that operates at 466 x 466 pixels. In other words, the smartwatch has the same display as the Watch GT 3 Pro. In fact, the Watch Buds bears more than a passing resemblance with the Watch GT 3 Pro, albeit with a digital crown as its sole hardware button.

Arguably the biggest innovation with the Watch Buds is its integrated TWS earbuds. While this design negates the need to carry around a pair of earbuds in a separate charging case, it also makes the Watch Buds 14.99 mm thick and 66.5 g before adding a watch strap. In other words, the Watch Buds is approximately 50% thicker and 33% heavier than the Watch GT 3 Pro, despite featuring a roughly 30% smaller battery.

At launch, Huawei is charging £389.99/€439 for the Watch Buds, with a £30/€30 deposit payable between February 15 and February 28. According to the company’s website, Watch Buds pre-orders may not ship until the middle of March, although pre-orders will come with a complimentary smart scale. Additionally, Huawei’s Watch Buds pre-sale ends on February 28, after which its price will rise to £449.99/€499. Please see the company’s website for more details.
