Audi pourrait recruter un pilote de développement pour son projet F1 dès la fin 2023.

Adam Baker, le PDG de la branche course de la marque, souhaite qu’un pilote arrive pour aider l’équipe à se construire d’ici 2026, ce qui les aidera notamment dans le développement de leur unité de puissance.

Quant à la nationalité de ce pilote, il ne sera pas forcément allemand. D’autant plus que Mick Schumacher a été signé par Mercedes F1.

“Ce serait attrayant, bien sûr, mais pour nous, la performance des pilotes est prioritaire. L’échéance est encore trop lointaine, même pour le pilote de développement que nous voulons avoir dès la fin 2023.”

“Il sera particulièrement important de compter sur un pilote expérimenté pour le développement de notre groupe motopropulseur dans le simulateur à Neuburg. Tout le monde a associé Mick à Audi mais il a choisi Mercedes F1 et je peux comprendre qu’il a envie de rebondir rapidement en F1.”

Après l’arrivée d’Andreas Seidl chez Sauber, d’autres recrutements sont à faire. Le directeur de l’équipe F1 bien entendu mais aussi beaucoup d’ingénieurs motoristes. Audi souhaiterait avoir jusqu’à 300 personnes travaillant sur le V6 de 2026 d’ici la fin 2023.

“Nous sommes déjà positionnés à l’international pour cela et le processus de recrutement est également orienté dans ce sens. Nous approchons spécifiquement des experts en la matière qui ont déjà une expérience en Formule 1.”

“C’est la première fois depuis 2009 qu’un groupe motopropulseur est développé en Allemagne. Par conséquent, si nous voulons du personnel expérimenté, nous sommes plus susceptibles de le trouver au Royaume-Uni, en France ou en Italie.”
