Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested June 24 in Tampa, Florida, on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. Prosecutors allege Arnold coordinated the robbery and assault of his personal driver and two associates after accusing the driver of involvement in the theft of more than $250,000 in cash and valuables from an Airbnb rental in February.
Arnold surrendered to authorities and remains in custody. The charges carry potential life sentences, and prosecutors are seeking to keep him jailed pending trial. Arnold has denied any involvement, with his representatives stating there is no credible evidence linking him to the crimes and arguing the case relies heavily on testimony from convicted co-defendants.
The case stems from a February incident in which several individuals were allegedly lured to an apartment, held at gunpoint, assaulted, and questioned about Arnold’s missing property. Two defendants accepted plea deals and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors, while four others remain jailed awaiting trial.
The Detroit Lions acknowledged the situation but declined further comment, citing the ongoing legal process.
The Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office said Arnold is being held with no bond and is due in court Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET, per the Sherriff’s office.
The charges carry a potential life sentence in prison.
