HALIFAX – Police in Nova Scotia say a young boy has been arrested and charged after staff at a business in New Glasgow reported being shown what appeared to be a real handgun.
Officers were called Sunday about a weapons complaint on George Street in the town roughly 160 kilometres northeast of Halifax.
Police say in a news release that they found the boy at a local restaurant and placed him under arrest.

Investigators say they searched the youth and seized a replica handgun they described as a BB gun.
The youth has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
