Hungary now one of the top 10 holiday destinations for UK travelers

Hungary is rapidly becoming one of Europe’s top destinations for British travelers and was named in the top ten destinations to watch in 2025. Budapest is the go-to option for most, thanks to the cheap flight links from various UK airports.

Now that there’s increased interest in the country, it could be an ideal time for the Hungary Tourism Agency to start promoting different locations. There are plenty of hidden gems in Hungary that UK visitors would most likely enjoy.

Time for Hungary to Promote Tourism to Lesser-Known Locations

Even though Hungary is on the radar of many British travelers, the concentration of tourism from the UK is centered on Budapest. That’s hardly a surprise, as there’s so much to love about the capital, but there are many locations that are going unnoticed.

This is where businesses in the travel industry should step in and try to encourage tourism in other regions. They could borrow promotion ideas from the entertainment market, where elements like daily free spins that reward random prizes are used as a way to attract people to certain sites. Players enjoy the unpredictable aspect, as they don’t know what they’re going to get. This is also why many people love tools like Netflix Roulette and Random YouTube, which select content for viewers.

Hungarian tourism sites could opt for a similar approach, where they encourage visitors to spin a lucky wheel to decide where they’ll go on holiday. This could be accompanied by discounted rates to certain places, giving holidaymakers an incentive to take the surprise over their own choice.

What Makes Hungary the Ideal Location for Brits?

There are various reasons why Hungary is becoming a more popular option for British tourists. One of the biggest factors is the availability of cheap flights to the country, with budget airlines like Wizz Air and Ryanair offering fares for as low as £30 for a one-way ticket. A lot of people will book holidays based on the price of tickets available, which is why Budapest attracts so many people.

Other aspects of Hungary make it a hotbed for UK travelers, though. For example, things like accommodation and dining are much cheaper than in the UK, so tourists can potentially make savings when they visit. Its central location in Europe also makes it easy to reach from the UK, but also a great place to start a European journey to other countries.

Lesser-Known Hungary Locations That Could Attract More Tourism

There are quite a few locations within the country that are already popular domestically but could do with greater promotion to international travelers. Lake Balaton is one prime spot that offers so many different experiences and could become a haven for Brits if advertised more.

There are also places like Hévíz, which is home to one of the world’s largest natural thermal lakes, and Eger in the north, which is known for its wine culture.

There’s so much more to Hungary than just Budapest, and it’s time that UK travelers were made aware of this. Engaging online promotions, such as lucky spins, could be the best way to encourage people to try different places.
