World’s Longest Direct Flight! Chinese Airline Launches 12,000-Mile, 29-Hour-Long Flight Across Pacific

China Eastern Airlines has introduced what it is calling the world’s longest direct flight, linking Shanghai with Buenos Aires. The new service will officially begin on December 4 and will cover almost 12,000 miles, making it one of the most ambitious routes in commercial aviation.

The flight will not be nonstop in the strictest sense, as it includes a scheduled stop in Auckland, New Zealand. During this layover, passengers will have the opportunity to leave the aircraft and stretch their legs before continuing on their journey.

Despite this break, the airline is promoting it as a direct connection since travelers remain on the same flight and do not need to change planes.

The outbound flight from Shanghai to Buenos Aires will already be lengthy, but the return trip is even longer. Due to weather conditions, air routes, and headwinds, the flight back to China is expected to last up to 29 hours, making it an endurance test for both passengers and crew.

This new route highlights the growing importance of long-haul travel and the strengthening ties between China and South America. It will provide a convenient option for business professionals, tourists, and students who often face multiple layovers when traveling between the two continents.

China Eastern Airlines aims to position itself as a leader in ultra-long-haul travel, offering passengers a more seamless experience compared to traditional multi-stop flights. For many, this route will save time and eliminate the hassle of connecting through several airports.

The launch of this record-setting service marks a bold step in global aviation, showing how airlines are pushing boundaries to connect distant parts of the world.
