Cardiff City are set to see ins and outs before Monday’s 7pm deadline
Reports in Germany state Cardiff City defender Jesper Daland is having a medical with German side Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Dominik Schneider, journalist with FussballTransfers on the continent, reports the Bluebirds centre-back is on the verge of signing for the club on loan with an option to buy.
Norwegian Daland has failed to settle in south Wales after joining from Cercle Brugge last year and hasn’t been used by City boss Brian Barry-Murphy so far this season. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community.
The manager confirmed in his press conference on Thursday that he expected movement in and out of Cardiff City Stadium before Monday’s 7pm deadline and it appears Daland is one heading for the exit door.
Barry-Murphy confirmed earlier this month that the centre-back was in talks with other clubs.
“Jesper’s in conversations with other clubs, so he’s not available,” Barry-Murphy said two weeks ago.
He’s contracted to the Bluebirds until June 2028 but reports from Germany suggest the loan deal has an option to purchase included.
Fortuna Düsseldorf, who play in the second tier of German football, have picked up three points from their opening three games.
It comes as Cardiff announced the signing of Gabriel Osho on a four-year deal.
“I’m really happy, and really excited,” he said.
“It’s been a long time in the works, so to finally be here at the stadium and in the city has been good. I’m buzzing to get going.
“Brian played a big part. It’s always important when the player has a good relationship with the manager.
“I had a really good time at Rochdale, and the connection I built with Brian and the staff there was pretty amazing. I think the relationship really was a contributing factor.
“I’ve been watching the games so far, and the atmosphere is amazing.
“Hopefully I can feed off the team’s momentum, get going straight away, and just keep the wins and the clean sheets going.”
The Bluebirds are set for a busy 72 hours, with a left-back and a winger said to be on their wishlist before the deadline ends.
WalesOnline reported earlier this week that a Premier League wide player was on their agenda, with a move said to be 50-50 at present.
When asked if he anticipated any new arrivals before Monday evening, Barry-Murphy said on Thursday: “Yes. For our supporters, there have been different words used by me in terms of imminent, soon.
“But because the end of the window is three days away, there is definitely going to be players coming in.
“But I can’t say with any certainty at all what day it will be.”
