Web Manga ‘Ibitte Konai Gibo to Gishi’ Gets TV Anime in 2026

Production company NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Otsuji‘s Ibitte Konai Gibo to Gishi (My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked) manga on Tuesday, revealing the main cast, staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and an announcement promo. The anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Voice actress Kujira (Naruto) is starring as Teru Kounokura.

Otsuji began drawing the historical slice of life manga on their X (formerly Twitter) account in September 2020 before beginning regular serialization on the Comic POOL web magazine in November 2020. Ichijinsha published the seventh volume in December 2024, with the eighth volume scheduled to be released on July 25. The manga has a cumulative 850,000 copies of its volumes in print.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in October 2022. The sixth volume shipped on June 17, with the seventh volume planned for a December 30 release.

Synopsis
Miya is the illegitimate child of a certain prominent family. When her mother dies, she’s convinced she knows what awaits her in her new home: a life of servitude and misery at the hands of her wicked stepmother and stepsisters!
