Liverpool transfer news: Federico Chiesa agent responds to January exit rumours

The agent of Federico Chiesa responds to speculation suggesting that the Italy international could leave Liverpool during the January transfer window.

The agent of Liverpool attacker Federico Chiesa has played down suggestions that he could depart Anfield in January.

Liverpool paid in the region of £12m to sign the Italy international from Juventus during the summer transfer window in a deal regarded as a significant coup.

However, Chiesa has been restricted to just 123 minutes of action spread across four appearances, just one of which has come in the Premier League.

As a result, the 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A before the end of the month in an effort to kick-start his career.

Napoli and Atalanta BC – the top two in the table – have been credited with an interest in his signature.

Agent comments on Chiesa speculation

Nevertheless, agent Fali Ramadani has seemingly dismissed claims that Chiesa is looking to go back to Italy as soon as possible.

Speaking to 365scores, Ramadani said: “Napoli did not negotiate a contract with Chiesa from Liverpool in the winter period, and the club has no intention of dispensing with the player.

“The player is continuing with Liverpool and is seeking the opportunity to participate in the coming period. This is what I can confirm now.”

Will Chiesa get Liverpool chances?

Liverpool have a further seven matches to play in January, just three of which come in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Ipswich Town their opponents.

Chiesa is likely to be considered for outings in the cup competitions, particularly when Liverpool play host to Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

There are also two fixtures against Lille and PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. With Liverpool having already won six successive matches, Arne Slot is likely to rotate his starting lineup.

Providing that he can stay fit, there is the realistic possibility of Chiesa making three starts over the coming weeks, particularly when the aforementioned contests are at least a week apart.
