Contractors sought for £1.3bn of decarbonisation and safety work

A procurement specialist has invited interest in two major deals potentially worth a combined total of £1.3bn.

South East Consortium published official notices of its Decarbonisation Partnerships and Fire Remedial Works frameworks on Friday (14 February).

The body said the agreements would provide routes to market for housing clients nationally over the next four years, but were most likely to be used by those in and around the capital.

Its Decarbonisation Partnerships framework was valued at £1bn with chosen contractors eligible for regional contracts via direct award or mini-contest.

South East Consortium said bid pricing should be based on the cost of working within the M25, with a discount for jobs outside this area.

Expressions of interest are due by 9 April.

The Fire Remedial Works agreement, valued at £300m, will also offer deals through either straight selection or competition.

Contractors are invited to tender for places on lots covering fire-door work, as well as passive and active fire-protection duties.

Requests to participate should be made by 16 April.

South East Consortium director of operations Jenna Hicken said: “We’re excited to bring these two frameworks to the market.

“They’re both new iterations of previous procurement routes that have been really popular with our customers. We’ve listened to the market and adapted them based on feedback from housing providers and the supply chain.

“Once live, they’ll provide compliant routes to market for customers, helping them deliver on two strategic priorities: building safety and decarbonisation.”

Elsewhere, NHS England is seeking 10 contractors to join a £37bn framework to deliver dozens of new hospitals.

Staffordshire County Council has launched a search for contractors to join a panel using modern methods of construction, to the tune of £45m over three years.

And the University of Warwick is hunting for a main contractor to build its new business school.
