A body has been discovered in the search for a missing woman who was last seen in a taxi on Friday. Lacey Lake, 24, was last spotted in the Stonehouse area of Plymouth, Cornwall, around 6pm last Friday and was reported missing yesterday. She was in a grey Mercedes before her location services were abruptly switched off and she vanished.

Devon and Cornwall Police updated this evening that a body was found in north Plymouth today. Formal identification is still pending, according to officers. They added that the death is being treated as “unexplained” but it is not believed to be suspicious.

The police force stated: “Police searching for a missing woman from Plymouth have today, 7 January, located the body of a female. Officers were called around 1.20pm following concerns for the welfare of the woman in Linton Close, Tamerton Foliot.

Paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained although not currently believed suspicious. The family of 24-year-old Lacey Lake who was reported missing on Monday 6 January have been informed. Formal identification has yet to be carried out.”

Following the report of Lacey’s disappearance, a plea was made by Morgan Hennessy Kelly on Facebook, urging anyone with information to step forward. The situation was particularly alarming as Lacey, a Type 1 diabetic, had no insulin with her when she disappeared, reports The Mirror.

It was also noted that while Lacey’s phone remained on since her disappearance, the location services had been switched off.
