Samsung Galaxy Watch6 battery capacities revealed by new leaks

It appears that Samsung will offer larger batteries within its next-generation smartwatches. While the Galaxy Watch5 series offered better battery life of its predecessors, the 40 mm and 44 mm versions of the Galaxy Watch6 will take these improvements even further.

GalaxyClub appears to have discovered the battery capacities of the Galaxy Watch6, courtesy of the SafetyKorea database. Seemingly, two listings correspond to the 40 mm and 44 mm versions of the Galaxy Watch6, rather than the presumed Galaxy Watch6 Pro. As the images below, Samsung has certified the EB-BR935ABY and EB-BR945ABY batteries, which would correspond with SM-R93x and SM-R94x smartwatches.

In short, the two Galaxy Watch6 models will launch with nominally larger batteries than their predecessors. On the one hand, EB-BR935ABY has 295 mAh rated and 300 mAh typical capacities, which would represent a 5.6% increase over the 284 mAh battery in the base Galaxy Watch5. By contrast, a 300 mAh capacity would be a 21.4% improvement from the Galaxy Watch4.

On the other hand, the EB-BR945ABY will provide a smaller capacity boost to the 44 mm versions of the Galaxy Watch6 compared to the Galaxy Watch5. With 412 mAh nominal and 425 mAh typical capacities, the EB-BR945ABY offers a 3.6% uplift from the battery in the equivalent Galaxy Watch5. Similarly, the Galaxy Watch6 should have a 17.7% larger battery than the 44 mm version of the Galaxy Watch4. Reportedly, the Galaxy Watch6 series waill launch with a curved glass design rather than a flat one like the Galaxy Watch5 series. Other details are unknown at this stage, but Samsung tends to refresh its smartwatches in the autumn.
