Deutsche Bank will then migrate in phases, with existing systems and the new platform operating in parallel throughout the transition period. The bank plans to move products across to the cloud system from 2027 onwards.<\/p>\n<p>Christian Rhino, chief information officer at Deutsche Bank\u2019s private bank, said: \u201cModernising our core banking landscape is one of the most significant technology transformations currently underway in the private bank.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVault Core provides a modern, cloud-native foundation that enhances resilience, scalability and flexibility,\u201d he added. \u201cBy separating product logic from underlying infrastructure, we will be able to develop, adapt and deploy products more efficiently over time, while progressively reducing reliance on fragmented legacy systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thought Machine was launched in 2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerweekly.com\/news\/252457003\/Dont-bank-on-Google-Bank-bank-on-banks-becoming-Google-like\">by ex-Google executives<\/a>, including the internet giant\u2019s former head of text-to-speech,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/paul-taylor-a2ba232\">Paul Taylor<\/a>. He was an academic at Edinburgh University in the 1990s, and focused on search technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning.<\/p>\n<p>He then moved on to set up two companies. One of them, Phonetic Arts, was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2010\/12\/03\/google-acquires-phonetic-arts\/?guccounter=1\">acquired by Google in 2010<\/a>, which became the text-to-speech system behind its driving directions and voice search.<\/p>\n<p>Following the announcement of the latest deal, Taylor said: \u201cDeutsche Bank is setting a clear precedent for how major international banks can modernise their core infrastructure. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerweekly.com\/news\/252508648\/Thought-Machine-Google-inspired-banking-fintech-to-unicorn-and-beyond\">Replacing disjointed legacy systems with a modern architecture<\/a> gives the bank the real-time capability needed to streamline operations, strengthen system reliability and deliver superior customer experiences at scale. We are delighted to enter into this decade-long partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deutsche Bank\u2019s private bank chief operating officer, Yiping Li, said: \u201cWith the selection of our future core banking platform, we are now turning strategy into execution.
