London artist Coupdekat <\/strong>announces her debut album \u2018Goodbye 2012!\u2019, out August 7th. <\/p>\n Emerging in 2021, Coupdekat became a defining figure in the UK underground co-founding the female and gender-inclusive collective Loud LDN. <\/p>\n Last year, the pop experimentalist released\u00a0the \u2018BLOW HER UP AND SHE\u2019LL BURST!\u2019 EP\u00a0and the fizzy 5-tracker \u2018adventure\u00a0the\u00a0world she created \/ inside of her pocket*\u2019. <\/p>\n Now, Coupdekat solidifies her early promise with a coming-of-age collection informed by neon, shopping trips at Claire\u2019s Accessories and MySpace. It\u2019s not a nostalgic rendering of a bygone era but an evocation of pre-social media online optimism: without invasive algorithms, commercialisation and the need to perform for an imagined audience.<\/p>\n Of the inspiration behind the album, Coupdekat shares:\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted this album to be a return to a time before having a phone and social media, before the self-awareness and pressure of being perceived. I missed the freedom and spontaneity of girlhood, I was so much more confident expressing myself back then. I wanted \u2018Goodbye 2012!\u2019 to feel like a return to that moment in time. I made the album in New York, and being away from London and crossing the boundary into a new world let me embrace that spontaneity and fun I was looking for.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Sonically, \u2018Goodbye 2012!\u2019 is a love letter to radical pop music, sharing a musical DNA with the likes of Fcukers, Bassvictim, Underscores. <\/p>\n In that vein, Coupedekat shares new single \u2018kisses\u2019, a minimal future-pop offering produced by Cowboy Lansky.
