TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:<\/strong>\u00a0Signing<\/em><\/p>\n Atlanta United<\/a> have acquired striker Breel Embolo<\/a> from French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, the club announced Sunday.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old Switzerland international joins for one of the largest transfer fees in MLS history (reportedly around $18 million). He is under contract through the 2029-30 MLS season and will occupy a Designated Player roster spot.<\/p>\n Embolo arrives shortly after Atlanta loaned DP striker Emmanuel Latte Lath<\/a> to German Bundesliga side Union Berlin.\u00a0<\/p>\n “We\u2019re pleased to bring a player with Breel\u2019s combination of talent and experience at the highest levels of world soccer to Atlanta United,” said Chris Henderson, the club’s chief soccer officer and sporting director.<\/p>\n “At age 29, he\u2019s coming off a strong performance at the World Cup<\/a> with Switzerland and has a proven track record of goal contributions in multiple top European leagues.<\/p>\n “His goal-scoring, ability to link with other players in the attack and tireless work rate are qualities that will strengthen our team from the center forward position.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
