Michael Carrick assured Mason Mount’s substitution in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain was merely a precaution to avoid taking unnecessary risks.<\/p>\n

Bryan Mbeumo cancelled out Ibrahim Mbaye’s early opener in the first half to salvage United a draw in Gothenburg, though the Red Devils arguably had the better chances.<\/p>\n

Mbeumo saw a few efforts saved by Matvey Safonov, while Shea Lacey saw a shot deflect\u00a0wide of the empty net when the goalkeeper rushed towards the halfway line to make a clearance.<\/p>\n

Mount, who has impressed so far in pre-season, was taken off after just 18 minutes, but Carrick is hopeful it is an impact injury.<\/p>\n

“He just got a kick,” said Carrick. “So, we just wanted [it] to be a precaution really, to look after him.<\/p>\n

“We want to keep the group strong, and we’ve been fortunate to get everyone to this stage fit and well, so we wanted to be careful with that.”<\/p>\n

PSG opened the scoring after just two minutes, cutting through United’s defence to leave Mbaye with a simple close-range finish.<\/p>\n

But Carrick’s side responded well against the European champions and limited them to very few chances throughout the rest of the match.<\/p>\n

“The things that we were trying to get out of the game, a lot of them were there,” he explained to MUTV.<\/p>\n

“It’s good sometimes that the boys have to solve problems and find their way a little bit. We don’t want to always give them the answers when we don’t have to.<\/p>\n

“It prepares them a little bit for the season as well. In that respect, there are a lot of things people don’t always see that we were quite happy with. There were some good signs there.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
