Music Ahead of America\u2019s 250th anniversary \u2013 and with Garth Brooks having now moved 200 million albums \u2013 why not celebrate the nation and the artist together? As the country mainstay reportedly explores a blockbuster catalog sale, \u201cAn Evening with Garth Brooks\u201d recently did just that.<\/strong><\/h2>\nOrganized by the RIAA and the National Archives Foundation, An Evening with Garth Brooks took place yesterday in front of the National Archives. At the top level, the event kicked off the ongoing three-day Spirit of Independence Festival and, as one would expect, featured a performance from the 64-year-old.<\/p>\n
But in addition to entertaining with \u201ca medley of his own classics and songs that inspired his music history\u201d \u2013 besides taking a look at the original Declaration of Independence \u2013 Brooks was surprised \u201cwith a massive plaque.\u201d<\/p>\n
And that plaque, pictured above, commemorated the initially mentioned sales milestone. All told, the two-time Grammy winner has sold north of 200 million albums \u2013 \u201cthe most albums in Gold & Platinum history\u201d \u2013 and is alone in having secured 10 Diamond sales certifications.<\/p>\n
In other words, An Evening with Garth Brooks doubled as a showcase for the Tulsa native\u2019s career and commercial accomplishments. Furthermore, this showcase arrived amid the reported exploration of a multibillion-dollar song-rights sale. <\/strong><\/h4>\nOf course, that\u2019s not to say Brooks\u2019 National Archives concert was designed to promote the ultra-valuable body of work before an audience of industry insiders. However, the event\u2019s timing is certainly interesting, and at a minimum, it won\u2019t hurt the reported search for a catalog buyer.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether a deal will actually materialize.
