South-East <\/a>Governors\u2019 Forum, Hope Uzodimma, says the five governors in the region have resolved to support President Bola Tinubu\u2019s re-election in 2027, citing what he described as unprecedented federal investments in the South-East.<\/p>\nSpeaking during a meeting with the Imo State Elders Council and traditional rulers in Owerri, Uzodimma said the governors reviewed the Tinubu administration\u2019s performance and agreed to align with the President\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe, the five governors of the South-East, have reviewed all options and decided that we will work with President Bola Tinubu because we want to be part of the Project Nigeria,\u201d Uzodimma said, adding that the governors would soon pay a joint courtesy visit to the President.<\/p>\n
He said the decision followed key projects delivered by the Federal Government, including the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which President Tinubu signed into law in July 2024 before inaugurating its governing board in February 2025.<\/p>\n
The governor also listed the reopening of the Port Harcourt\u2013Aba rail line for commercial operations, the proposed $3 billion Eastern Rail Corridor reconstruction, and major road projects linked to the Second Niger Bridge as evidence of the administration\u2019s commitment to the region.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Federal Government has equally approved the Otuocha\u2013Anam\u2013Abaji Road and the Oba\u2013Nnewi\u2013Uga\u2013Ihube\/Okigwe Junction Road to improve connectivity and economic activities across the South-East.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe South-East has decided. Our people judge governments by performance and not by political sentiments. The evidence is on the ground,\u201d he said while also praising increased allocations to states, student loan programmes and other economic reforms.<\/p>\n
On Imo politics, Uzodimma urged traditional rulers and members of the Imo State Elders Council to support the implementation of the Charter of Equity, describing it as a legal framework for fairness, political stability and peaceful power rotation in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Charter of Equity is real, and I need your mandate to implement it because that is what will bring lasting peace to Imo State,\u201d he said, insisting that his successor must emerge in line with the law and possess integrity and commitment to good governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will take the fight personally to protect the Charter of Equity. I will stop at nothing,\u201d the governor declared, while also calling for greater investment in vocational training and skills acquisition to reduce unemployment and promote sustainable development in Imo State.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
