YouTube is adding even more TikTok-like features to Shorts, including a new \u201cclear screen\u201d mode that removes the icons and text from the video you\u2019re watching. In a blog post on Thursday<\/a>, YouTube says it\u2019s also replacing the \u201cthumbs-up\u201d button with a \u201cheart\u201d icon, and is introducing a new option that lets you watch Shorts at 2x speed.<\/p>\n

As noted by YouTube, you can speed up a video by holding down the edge of your screen and lifting your finger when you want it to return to normal speed. You can lock the speed at 2x by pressing the player and swiping down. Another change allows you to mute watching by tapping the video and selecting the \u201cmute\u201d button.<\/p>\n

These new additions make Shorts even more like TikTok, which has had the similarly-named<\/a> \u201cclear mode\u201d for years \u2014 a feature that also removes captions, icons, and usernames from your screen. TikTok already offers a way to speed up videos as well, and lets users \u201clike\u201d a video by pressing a \u201cheart\u201d button.<\/p>\n

Along with these updates, YouTube is removing the \u201cdislike\u201d button. It\u2019s encouraging users to share their feedback with the platform by selecting the \u201cNot interested\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t recommend this channel\u201d options from the three-dots menu instead.<\/p>\n
