{"id":922389,"date":"2026-07-25T07:12:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T12:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/25\/power-minister-courts-local-foreign-investors-to-boost-industrial-growth\/"},"modified":"2026-07-25T07:12:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T12:12:15","slug":"power-minister-courts-local-foreign-investors-to-boost-industrial-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/25\/power-minister-courts-local-foreign-investors-to-boost-industrial-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Power minister courts local, foreign investors to boost industrial growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bitcoins <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The federal government has called on local and international investors to deepen their investments in Nigeria\u2019s power sector to support economic and industrial growth.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, made the call in a keynote address delivered at the Project Hoover Series II Investor Forum in Abuja on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tegbe said reliable electricity remained central to Nigeria\u2019s economic transformation, stressing that sustainable economic growth could only be achieved through a commercially viable electricity market.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said ongoing reforms by the present administration were laying the foundation for a financially sustainable and investment-driven power market capable of supporting the country\u2019s industrial growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe administration of President Bola Tinubu is implementing far-reaching reforms under the Electricity Act, 2023, to reposition the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) into an investment-grade sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe reforms include promoting competition in the electricity market, empowering state governments to participate in electricity regulation, and expanding transmission infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dAccelerating renewable energy deployment; strengthening regulatory certainty; and improving governance across the industry\u2019s value chain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The minister also said the reforms were already changing investors\u2019 perception of Nigeria\u2019s power sector but acknowledged that unresolved historical financial obligations had continued to discourage fresh investments.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that the N501 billion Series 1 issuance launched earlier in 2026 was oversubscribed, describing it as a demonstration of investors\u2019 confidence in the federal government\u2019s reform agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur destination is clear\u2014a financially sustainable, investment-led electricity market that powers Nigeria\u2019s industrial renaissance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dTherefore, I encourage you to see this offering beyond a mere fixed-income instrument.
