{"id":921911,"date":"2026-07-23T06:14:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T11:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/23\/ground-handling-companies-suspend-services-to-max-air-over-debts\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T06:14:35","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T11:14:35","slug":"ground-handling-companies-suspend-services-to-max-air-over-debts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/23\/ground-handling-companies-suspend-services-to-max-air-over-debts\/","title":{"rendered":"Ground Handling Companies Suspend Services To Max Air Over Debts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>News Investigators\/ The Aviation Ground Handlers Association of Nigeria (AGHAN) has suspended ground handling services to Max Air over debts.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of AGHAN, Olaniyi Adigun, disclosed the suspension in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Adigun said that the suspension, which took effect from Thursday, was the first major enforcement move by the association against defaulting airlines.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the decision became necessary following Max Air\u2019s refusal to engage with aviation handling companies on the reconciliation and settlement of its indebtedness.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Adigun said that while other airlines owing the ground handling firms were talking with them and reconciling their accounts, Max Air failed to respond positively.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the association could no longer sustain the financial burden imposed by the airline\u2019s prolonged non-payment for services rendered to it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took the decisive action on Max Air today because the airline refused to negotiate with us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the other debtor airlines are negotiating with us, Max Air has refused to negotiate with handling companies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the other debtor airlines are already on the verge of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with our members on debt payment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis action should serve as a signal to other airlines that ground handling companies can no longer continue to provide services without payment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Adigun, however, said that Max Air\u2019s ongoing transport of Muslim\u00a0 pilgrims would not be affected by the suspension.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the handling charges for the pilgrimage flights were paid directly by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Adigun said that AGHAN had given series of ultimatums to indebted airlines, warning that failure to settle outstanding obligations could lead to withdrawal of services.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts to obtain Max Air\u2019s reaction to the development were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report. <\/p>\n<p>NAN<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newsinvestigatorsng.com\/ground-handling-companies-suspend-services-to-max-air-over-debts\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News Investigators\/ The Aviation Ground Handlers Association of Nigeria (AGHAN) has suspended ground handling services to Max Air over debts.
