BTS Makes First Award Show Performance in 4 Years at AMAs 2026\u2014With a Twist<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BTS<\/a><\/strong>‘ latest appearance is simply dope.<\/p>\n

Indeed, at the 2026 American Music Awards<\/a>\u00a0May 25, group members Jimin<\/strong>, Jung Kook<\/strong>, Jin<\/strong>, Suga<\/strong>, J-Hope<\/strong>, RM <\/strong>and V<\/strong> made a dynamite entrance on the red carpet. The event\u2014hosted by Queen Latifah<\/strong> at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas\u2014serves as the group’s first outing at an award show in four years.<\/p>\n

And they set the show off with a bang, giving a rousing rendition of their new song “Hooligan,” which they debuted back in March. However, the seven-piece didn’t actually take the stage, instead, as multiple<\/a> outlets<\/a> reported, showing a pre-tapped performance<\/a> of the traick from the May 24 Las Vegas stop on their ARIRANG<\/em> world tour. (Although, Queen Latifah\u00a0teased the group would be making an appearance at the award ceremony.)<\/p>\n

This year’s AMAs\u2014of which BTS is nominated for Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Best Male K-Pop Artist\u2014also serves as a milestone for the band in more ways than one. After all, they made their U.S. TV performance debut at the 2017 event, becoming the first Korean group to ever perform on the show.<\/p>\n

Their latest appearance together also comes after they went on an extended hiatus in 2022 to fulfill military duties in their native home of South Korea.<\/p>\n

Since their return, BTS not only released their 10th studio album Arirang<\/em>, but they announced earlier this year that a world tour would accompany it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Though their anticipated tour was initially supposed to be a smaller comeback that spanned over a couple of months, that idea quickly grew\u2014and with good reason.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

\u201cWhen we first got our tour plans, it didn\u2019t have very many stops,\u201d Jin told Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> in a joint interview in April. \u201cAnd it was only going to last about three to four months. I said: \u2018Now that we\u2019re back, we promised so many people that we would come and meet them, and I feel like this is breaking our promise.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

And even though there\u2019s no doubt that BTS has become one of the biggest groups in music in recent years, when compared to other artists such as Taylor Swift<\/strong>, the group still sees this as just the beginning. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are greater artists than us,\u201d RM told the outlet. \u201cWe\u2019re just so small. We\u2019re just a boy band from Korea.\u201d<\/p>\n
