In case you haven\u2019t watched the Widow\u2019s Bay<\/em> finale<\/a> yet, beware! Mayor Tom (Matthew Rhys) discovers a game-changing detail about his teenage son, Evan (Kingston Rumi Southwick), that is going to make the show\u2019s second season<\/a> especially perilous for their family. You know, even beyond the island\u2019s usual array of sea hags<\/a>, murder clowns, masked killers, apocalyptic storms, and the like.<\/p>\n

In \u201cWe Hope You Enjoyed Your Time!\u201d viewers learned that Evan is the youngest living descendant of Richard Warren, who founded the island\u2019s first settlement. Ruth (K Callan), the elderly woman that Tom thought was the end of Warren\u2019s bloodline, secretly had a daughter\u2014Tom\u2019s late wife, who died a few years after Evan was born.<\/p>\n

That means as long as Evan is alive, the island will remain cursed. Part of that curse is that if you were born on the island, you can never leave. Another part is that the island is prone to monster attacks. And yet another part is that the island demands human sacrifices whenever it wakes up hungry.<\/p>\n

It goes without saying that Tom will do everything he can to keep Evan safe, which he was already obsessed with doing even before he knew about Evan\u2019s ties to Richard Warren. He may need to step that up in season two if anyone else on the island finds out the truth. But you have to suspect the island itself won\u2019t pose any danger to Evan; it needs him to stick around, after all.<\/p>\n

Still, Southwick has high hopes we\u2019ll see his character tangling with more frights in season two.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the horror part of it, and I don\u2019t think Evan got to do as many horror scenes or have as many things happen to him,\u201d he told Deadline<\/a>. \u201cSo, I\u2019m really manifesting that in season two there are different scary situations and that Evan gets put into some pretty crazy and pretty scary circumstances [\u2026] I really want to do more horror, and I\u2019m excited to see what [creator Katie Dippold and director Hiro Murai] have in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Southwick expressed a similar sentiment while speaking with Esquire<\/a>. \u201cSeason two is going to have a lot more Evan in it. It\u2019s fun because I really want to do more horror stuff in the show\u2014like me experiencing the horror. I\u2019m just excited. I know that I\u2019m in good hands. I keep calling [Dippold] like, \u2018Tell me what\u2019s going to happen!\u2019 I think they\u2019re going to start the writer\u2019s room soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
