The musician may have failed to reciprocate the former governor\u2019s high-five attempt at a recent show, but that doesn\u2019t mean they are feuding. \u201cWe\u2019ve all been friends for years,\u201d says Jon Landau<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n\tA video of Bruce Springsteen<\/a> supposedly snubbing former New Jersey governor Chris Christie<\/a> during a recent concert in Brooklyn went viral over the weekend, generating headlines at TMZ,<\/a> New York Post<\/a><\/em>, Fox News<\/a>,<\/em> and many other outlets. But in a statement to Rolling Stone<\/em>, Jon Landau, Springsteen\u2019s longtime manager, says the moment has been totally misread.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCurrent stories claiming a break in the friendship between Bruce and Chris Christie are absurd,\u201d Landau says. \u201cWe\u2019ve all been friends for years, Chris was attending his 180th show, standing at the side of the stage as our guest.\u00a0 And we hope to see him at our next 180 shows, as our guest. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe supposed diss came near the end of Springsteen\u2019s May 14 show at the Barclays Center, when he ventured into the crowd during \u201c10th Avenue Freeze-Out,\u201d a longtime concert ritual. When he got back near the stage, Christie was standing on the side with his hand out for a high five, but Springsteen walked past and left him hanging. This split-second moment was read as evidence of a rift between the two, even though it\u2019s pretty clear in the video that Springsteen was turned away from the former governor, was focused on his performance, and even turned towards him and cheerfully said \u201cCome on, gov\u201d at the start of the song.
