The Yanks have nothing like the pedigree of even a less-storied member of the European elite like Belgium, their opponent on Monday in Seattle. The fact remains that only eight nations in history have won a World Cup; it\u2019s the most exclusive club in world soccer, and only one new member (Spain) has joined in the current century.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t bother trying to impose any such reality checks on the USMNT, who insist they have fully internalized Pochettino\u2019s \u2018Why not U.S.?\u2019 motto.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all believe in it, we’ve all talked about it, we all say it: Why not us?\u201d said captain and Charlotte FC<\/a> defender Tim Ream<\/a> after Wednesday\u2019s triumph.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cSo it’s taken hold. We wanted another crack at them,\u201d said Vancouver Whitecaps FC<\/a> midfielder Sebastian Berhalter<\/a>. \u201cThey’re a good team, but we believe that we can go there and give them a fight, and hopefully go out with the win.\u201d<\/p>\n As comfortable as the Belgians may be on Puget Sound, the Yanks expect their faithful to turn up on Monday and provide the \u201812th man\u2019 backing again.<\/p>\n \u201cThey set a high bar in the last round, in the Group Stage,\u201d said Ream of the Seattle support. \u201cWe’re looking forward to getting up there again.
