The 41-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract with the ambitious French club.

The coaching change comes after Paris FC decided not to continue with Antoine Kombouaré, who guided the club to safety after taking charge in February 2026. Kombouaré helped the newly promoted side finish 11th in Ligue 1, but negotiations over a new contract broke down because both sides could not agree on salary and contract terms.

Former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior. Copyright: xDanielxWeir/SportsxPressxPhotox IMAGO

Paris FC’s owners are now looking to move in a different direction. The club, backed by the wealthy Arnault family and Red Bull, wants a younger coach who can build a team capable of competing regularly in the top half of the division.

The move would signal a quick return to management for Rosenior after his short spell at Chelsea ended in April 2026. Before that, he impressed many people in France during his successful 18 months at Strasbourg, where he led the club to a seventh-place finish and qualification for European football.

Interestingly, Rosenior already knows plenty about Moses Simon. During his time at Strasbourg, he publicly praised the Nigerian international, describing him as one of the French league’s most dangerous attacking players.

Nigeria and Paris FC forward Moses Simon. Photo by IMAGO

Soccer Why Rosenior’s style could suit Moses Simon perfectly

Moses Simon joined Paris FC in the summer of 2025 for around €7 million after ending his long-term association with FC Nantes. He then reunited with Kombouaré at Paris FC as both had previously worked together at Nantes. Although the coach is leaving, the Nigerian winger could benefit even more from Rosenior’s tactical approach.

Rosenior likes his teams to dominate possession while attacking quickly through the wings. That style matches Simon’s biggest strengths.

The Super Eagles star is one of Ligue 1’s best dribblers in one-on-one situations. Rosenior’s system often creates space for wide players to receive the ball and take on defenders, something that could allow Simon to use his pace and close control more often.

Simon is also known for driving to the byline before delivering dangerous low crosses into the penalty area instead of always cutting inside to shoot. Rosenior encourages his midfielders and forwards to attack the box in numbers, meaning Simon could create even more assists in the new system.

Nigeria and Paris FC star Moses Simon. Copyright: xWilliamxCannarellaxIMAGO

Another reason the partnership looks promising is Simon’s work rate. Rosenior expects his wingers to press opponents immediately after losing possession and help defend from the front. Simon has shown throughout his career with both club and country that he is willing to track back and support his full-back.

The Nigerian is also comfortable playing in different positions, including left wing, right wing and wing-back. That versatility will give Rosenior more tactical options during matches.

One area Simon may need to improve is keeping possession in crowded areas. Rosenior wants his players to stay patient on the ball instead of forcing difficult dribbles. If Simon adapts to that part of the game, he could become a key player as Paris FC aim to establish themselves in the French top-flight.

<img alt="Imhonlamhen” src=”https://soccernet.ng/thumbor/UeZ4EmE35a2sJHCDcRne0Ycx5DA=/150×150/smart/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.soccernet.ng%2Fmain%2F2024%2F12%2FDSC_0327-copy.jpg”  height=”80″ width=”80″>

Imhonlamhen

    Imhonlamhen is a football writer and editor at Soccernet.ng with over six years’ experience shaping its editorial voice.
