TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:<\/strong> Signing<\/em><\/p>\n Chicago Fire FC<\/a> signed Polish international Robert Lewandowski<\/a> on Monday, bringing a new superstar striker to MLS.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n The longtime Bundesliga and LaLiga standout is under contract through the 2027-28 MLS season. He will occupy Designated Player and international roster spots.<\/p>\n Lewandowski was a free agent after spending four seasons with FC Barcelona. Other individual accolades include two Best FIFA Men\u2019s Player awards, one Bundesliga Player of the Season nod and one LaLiga Golden Boot.<\/p>\n Internationally, Lewandowski is widely regarded as Poland\u2019s best-ever player and captains their team.\u00a0<\/p>\n He has tallied a Polish record 89 goals in a record 167 caps, memorably leading his country at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups<\/a> and four European Championships.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n At the 2026 World Cup break, Chicago are third in the Eastern Conference table with 26 points. They return to action on July 16 vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC<\/a> (8:30 pm ET | Apple TV<\/a>).<\/p>\n Chicago are in their second season under Berhalter, who previously managed the United States<\/a> at the 2022 World Cup. Last campaign, the Fire returned to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2017.<\/p>\n The club’s other star players include forward Hugo Cuypers<\/a>, midfielder Philip Zinckernagel<\/a> and winger Jonathan Bamba<\/a>. Goalkeeper Chris Brady<\/a> (USA), defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi<\/a> (South Africa) and defender Joel Waterman<\/a> (Canada) have featured at this summer’s World Cup.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n The Fire currently play at Soldier Field.
