Uruguay and Manchester United have confirmed Manuel Ugarte has sustained a knee ligament injury, though the extent of his lay-off is not yet clear.<\/p>\n

Ugarte had to be taken off during Uruguay’s 1-0 loss to Spain on Friday.<\/p>\n

That defeat saw Uruguay crash out of the World Cup, with Cape Verde progressing from the group along with Spain.<\/p>\n

And it has now been confirmed that Ugarte sustained a serious knee issue.<\/p>\n

“Assessment of the injury is ongoing to determine the best course of treatment and the rehabilitation timescale,” United confirmed in a statement.<\/p>\n

Ugarte made 24 appearances for United in all competitions in 2025-26.<\/p>\n
