Photo by Icon Sport<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle saw his contract extended for another four years by the Nigeria Sports Commission four days ago, but that decision has not gone down well with many, <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soccernet.ng<\/a> reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 48-year-old&#8217;s salary has now doubled, going from $50,000 monthly to earning $100,000, but so has his workload. The <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/2026\/06\/super-eagles-coach-eric-chelle-new-deal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Franco-Malian tactician will also take charge of Nigeria&#8217;s U-23 team<\/a>, adding to his Super Eagles responsibility. <\/p>\n<p>Former Super Eagles midfielder Garba Lawal already raised questions regarding the payments, admitting he&#8217;s unsure if the NFF can sustain forking out that amount of money, long-term.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 \u00c9ric Chelle\u2019s new deal, fully broken down:<\/p>\n<p>The 48-year-old will earn around $100,000 per month, with the Nigeria Football Federation now covering his coaching staff\u2019s salaries. Photo by Icon Sport<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Finidi George&#8217;s claims have been echoed by a former NFF board member, Barrister Christopher Green. <\/p>\n<p>The former River States Commissioner for Sports called out the Nigerian Federation, questioning why they wouldn&#8217;t pay local coaches the same fee they sanctioned for Eric Chelle.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI have always advocated for equality. It does not matter where you are coming from, whether you reside in the country, whether you are a national or an expatriate.
