The Luce has been almost universally panned online, not for a design that is objectively bad, per se, but for a car that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/797024\/luca-di-montezemolo-ferrari-luce-statement\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22797024%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22luca-di-montezemolo-ferrari-luce-statement%22%7D\">lacks the passion and beauty<\/a> befitting a Ferrari.<\/p>\n<p>It might be impossible to make an electric car meet that mantle, but there are methods with which to try\u2014the most popular of which is fake engine sounds.\u00a0After cleaning up the audio and removing Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton\u2019s voices from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/ferrari\/luce\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22ferrari%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22luce%22%7D\">Luce<\/a> launch video, we can finally hear what its\u00a0artificial powertrain sounds like. And it&#8217;s&#8230; perfectly whelming. It may only sound that way because of the sound\u2019s proximity to the Luce, because it could also sound like almost any Hyundai product.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<hr>\n<p>More technically, there doesn\u2019t seem to be any synthesized gear shifts in the sound, nor does Ferrari claim there will be any. There could be other fake sounds that we don\u2019t hear, which we won\u2019t know about until the Luce reaches our hands. While it does have massive shift paddles, Ferrari says those are only for variable regenerative braking, not for anything fun.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Motor1&#8217;s Take:\u00a0<\/strong>Perhaps, if the Luce had a simulated V12 from the 812 Competizione, or maybe even the Ferrari F2004\u2019s 18,000 rpm V10 engine, it would provide some solace for Ferrari making an electric car.
