{"id":911533,"date":"2026-06-09T15:14:46","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T20:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/09\/alexander-rossi-admits-its-not-often-that-you-are-happy-with-second-place-after-indy-500-qualifying\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T15:14:46","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T20:14:46","slug":"alexander-rossi-admits-its-not-often-that-you-are-happy-with-second-place-after-indy-500-qualifying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/09\/alexander-rossi-admits-its-not-often-that-you-are-happy-with-second-place-after-indy-500-qualifying\/","title":{"rendered":"Alexander Rossi admits \u201cIt\u2019s not often that you are happy with second place\u201d after Indy 500 qualifying"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-position=\"embed\" data-series=\"indycar\" data-autoplay=\"0\" data-mute=\"0\">\n<p>The positive vibes were radiating from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/alexander-rossi\/10041\/\">Alexander Rossi<\/a> despite narrowly missing pole for the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rossi set the tone in the Fast Six by going out first and setting the benchmark four-lap average pace of 231.990mph in the #20 ECR Chevrolet.<\/p>\n<p>And it was unreachable for everyone, except defending race winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/alex-palou\/21151\/\">Alex Palou<\/a>, who soared to a 232.248 four-lap average to knock Rossi off his perch and snatch pole.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi, the 2016 Indy 500 winner, was left settling for second when the dust settled on a gusty and hot day. It&#8217;s no small feat around here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA great day. But, yeah, like I said, it&#8217;s been an amazing car from a drivability standpoint, a speed standpoint all month. I would say today was our least competitive day from my side, so that&#8217;s really encouraging going into next week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And with the margins so tight, did Rossi have anything left on the table that maybe could have held the top spot?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere&#8217;s always something,\u201d he said. \u201cThere&#8217;s always something. Even that guy behind me [pointing to Palou] can probably say the same thing.
