Drama As Wicknell Chivayo\u2019s Ex-Wife Sonja Madzikanda Is Reportedly Arrested In Harare<\/h2>\n

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo\u2019s former wife, Sonja Madzikanda, has been arrested following allegations linked to a child access dispute involving the couple\u2019s children.<\/p>\n

In a video shared online by TheNewsHawks on Monday night, Madzikanda recorded herself inside a dimly lit room while explaining her side of the unfolding dispute. Parts of the recording were difficult to hear because of the background noise.<\/p>\n

Sonja Speaks Out In Viral Video<\/h2>\n

Madzikanda claimed the matter began after Chivayo accused her of denying him access to their children.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI am at Highlands Police. I received two [inaudible] today. The first one was from Wicknell Munodaani Chivayo, saying I was denying him his kids,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She alleged that the dispute had been ongoing for some time.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThis is now the second time he has done this to me. Over the holiday, I didn\u2019t have access to my kids on my birthday. I didn\u2019t have my two weeks of the holiday with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Madzikanda further claimed that after returning from a trip abroad, she collected the children from school before police were allegedly contacted.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cToday I came back. I did my kids\u2019 school run. I went and picked up my kids. When I came back, he called the police and said that I had denied him access to his kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also alleged that a second complaint was later made against her involving one of Chivayo\u2019s devices.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cHe then came and has alleged that I have stolen one of his devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In the same video, Madzikanda made further allegations involving videos allegedly stored on the device.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThis is a man who is heavily guarded, as you are all aware. He has so many security guards around him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also claimed the developments were linked to attempts to take her children away from her.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThis is in all efforts and hopes to take my kids away from me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Background To The Divorce Battle<\/h2>\n

The latest developments come just weeks after the High Court finalised the couple\u2019s highly publicised divorce settlement on 10 April 2026.<\/p>\n

The settlement ordered Chivayo to pay Madzikanda US$5 million following legal proceedings that attracted widespread attention across Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

Court papers showed that Madzikanda had initially sought US$25 million, US$40,000 monthly maintenance and several luxury vehicles as part of the divorce proceedings filed earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The High Court ruling, presided over by Justice Amy Tsanga, confirmed that US$2.2 million had already been paid, while the remaining US$2.8 million was to be settled within 30 days.<\/p>\n

The court also introduced a detailed parenting arrangement governing access to the couple\u2019s children.<\/p>\n

According to court documents cited by The Herald, Chivayo was granted structured access rights while Madzikanda retained the primary residence of the children.<\/p>\n

Court documents also showed that Chivayo had previously complained about allegedly being denied contact with the children.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cLost birthdays, milestones and daily interactions are irrecoverable. The prejudice is ongoing and cumulative,\u201d Chivayo reportedly stated in his affidavit filed before the April ruling.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

No Official Police Statement Yet<\/h2>\n

Madzikanda also claimed in the viral video that the latest developments were linked to attempts to take her children away from her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is in all efforts and hopes to take my kids away from me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the time of publication, there had been no official public statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Wicknell Chivayo or Sonja Madzikanda\u2019s legal representatives regarding the matter.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
