The minister said the initiative would help identify and develop sporting talent in schools across Zimbabwe\u2019s ten provinces.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"878\">The partnership places Sakupwanya\u2019s Betterbrands at the centre of efforts to revive grassroots school sport, an area many believe has struggled because of limited funding and reduced development structures over the years.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1jbtvm1\" data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"932\">Torerayi Moyo Announces Betterbrands Partnership<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"1075\">In his statement, Moyo said the ministry had been working towards reviving the programme and praised Betterbrands for backing the initiative.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1298\">\n<p data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1298\">\u201cI am deeply proud to announce that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and Betterbrands have today signed a US$200,000 partnership to revive the NASH Grassroots Sport Development Programme across Zimbabwe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1300\" data-end=\"1432\">The minister said many talented young athletes had failed to get opportunities because of weaknesses in grassroots sporting systems.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1550\">\n<p data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1550\">\u201cFor too long, gifted young Zimbabweans have fallen through the cracks of an underfunded grassroots sport system.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1552\" data-end=\"1561\">He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1772\">\n<p data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1772\">\u201cThe talented footballer in Binga. The sprinter in Beitbridge. The athlete in Mutare. Young people whose gifts the nation never got to see not because they lacked talent, but because we failed to find them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"16q0svr\" data-start=\"1774\" data-end=\"1814\">What The US$200k Partnership Will Do<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1816\" data-end=\"1940\">According to Moyo, the programme will focus on talent identification, coaching structures and organised school competitions.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"2067\">\n<p data-start=\"1944\" data-end=\"2067\">\u201cThrough this partnership with Betterbrands, we will strengthen talent identification frameworks across all ten provinces.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2069\" data-end=\"2178\">The minister also said the programme would help create pathways from school-level sport to elite competition.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2359\">\n<p data-start=\"2182\" data-end=\"2359\">\u201cWe will develop structured coaching and competitive programmes at secondary school level and create clear pathways from grassroots participation to elite sport representation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2361\" data-end=\"2434\">Moyo said the initiative was also about empowering learners beyond sport.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2436\" data-end=\"2549\">\n<p data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2549\">\u201cWe want to empower Zimbabwe\u2019s young people through the discipline, teamwork and resilience that sport builds.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1lmim72\" data-start=\"2551\" data-end=\"2598\">Government Says Young Athletes Will Benefit<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2600\" data-end=\"2693\">Moyo said the partnership showed that investment was being directed towards Zimbabwean youth.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2695\" data-end=\"2829\">\n<p data-start=\"2697\" data-end=\"2829\">\u201cTo every secondary school student across Zimbabwe your government sees you. Your talent matters. Your future is being invested in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2831\" data-end=\"2947\">He also linked the project to President <span><span>Emmerson Mnangagwa<\/span><\/span>\u2019s \u201cNyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo\u201d mantra.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2949\" data-end=\"3046\">\n<p data-start=\"2951\" data-end=\"3046\">\u201cThis country is built by its own people.
