Anne Hathaway is experiencing a promotional season that would be far too busy for an ordinary mortal<\/a>. On one side is the The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em><\/a> world tour, and on the other is the premiere of Mother Mary<\/em>. Two films, two aesthetic universes, and most importantly, two wardrobes that have clearly never spoken to each other.<\/p>\n

For her return to the runway ecosystem, Hathaway<\/a> is playing the absolute glamour card: sculpted dresses, solid colors, textbook fashion silhouettes. In short, everything you would expect from someone who is officially returning to the Miranda Priestly orbit.<\/p>\n

But then comes Mother Mary,<\/em> and the mood changes as if someone had dimmed the lights in the theater without warning. Here Hathaway plays a pop star in crisis, busy mending her relationship with her former costume designer and best friend, played by Michaela Coel, on the eve of a comeback<\/em> that doesn\u2019t exactly promise levity. The film is described as a psychological melodrama with almost supernatural overtones, suspended between musical backstage, ghost story, and a toxic relationship between two brilliant women who know each other too well. Even the wardrobe follows the emotional plot: a little mystery and a little goth subculture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In New York, Hathaway made her first appearance linked to the film in a light, layered gown. It is an ethereal, almost suspended look that introduces a more fragile and luminous version of the character, as if she were still in the stage before the breakup or transformation.<\/p>\n

In London, however, the narrative changed direction completely. On the red carpet at Picturehouse Central, Hathaway appeared in a black Iris van Herpen haute couture gown constructed from laser-cut leather, weaves, and graphic transparencies: a more structured, sculptural, futuristic, and decidedly nocturnal look that likely marks a shift toward her character\u2019s more intense and self-conscious dimension.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Behind it all is once again Erin Walsh, a stylist who is orchestrating two parallel worlds this season without ever really letting them touch: the two Hathaways, of two pointedly different fashion moods.<\/p>\n
