Sevilla head coach Luis Garc\u00eda Plaza has\u00a0weighed in\u00a0on the recent performances of Super Eagles forward Akor Adams, Soccernet.ng<\/u><\/a>\u00a0reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Montpellier striker has been in impressive form in recent matches and has played a key role in Sevilla\u2019s fight for survival, earning six points across their last two matches with his goals.<\/p>\n

The Nigerian forward scored a stoppage-time winner in last weekend\u2019s 2-1 victory over Espanyol and\u00a0made the headlines\u00a0once again in midweek after scoring the winning goal in a 3-2 comeback victory over Villarreal, helping his side overturn a two-goal deficit to secure all three points.<\/p>\n

That goal also made him the first Nigerian since Ikechukwu Uche in the 2013<\/u>-14 s<\/u>eason to reach double figures in a single La Liga campaign<\/u><\/a>, with Uche having scored 14 goals for Villarreal.<\/p>\n

Adams has now scored 10 La Liga goals this season for Sevilla and remains the club\u2019s top scorer. It is quite an impressive feat considering he missed several\u00a0weeks while on international duty with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored twice as the Super Eagles won the bronze medal.<\/p>\n

Sevilla will host Real Madrid at the Ram\u00f3n S\u00e1nchez Pizju\u00e1n Stadium on Sunday in their penultimate league game of the season. A win would secure their top-flight status and guarantee they remain in La Liga for\u00a0at least another\u00a0season.<\/p>\n

While the seven-time Europa League champions have boosted their survival chances\u00a0with good results in their last two games, they are still only four points above the relegation zone\u00a0which leaves little room for error.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the clash, head coach Luis Garc\u00eda singled out Adams for praise after his recent performances\u00a0and also urged the entire team\u00a0to maintain their momentum.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last games we have six goals and distributed, but it is clear that Akor, the time of Espanyol and the other day, was at a very good level and hopefully it continues like this and the \u2018plug’ to Real Madrid\u201d,\u00a0Garcia said in quotes revealed by Estadio Deportivo.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Adams will now be hoping to continue his\u00a0goalscoring form\u00a0in the crucial clash against Real Madrid, which\u00a0could ultimately confirm their La Liga survival.\u00a0Since joining the club,\u00a0the Super Eagles forward longest scoring streak has been two games and he has not scored in three consecutive games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sevilla will then face Celta Vigo in their final game of the season on May 23 and a win from both games would be enough to survive relegation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
