the Sultans of String \u2014 a Billboard-charting band and six-time winner at the Canadian Folk Music Awards \u2014 the event will feature M\u00e9tis fiddling, rumba, rock, an East Coast Kitchen content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that as a society we can\u2019t move ahead without acknowledging and reflecting on the past,\u201d said Chris McKhool, bandleader of the Toronto-based Sultans of String.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore reconciliation can occur, the full truth of the Indigenous experience in this country needs to be told, so we\u2019ve been calling on Indigenous artists to share with us their stories, their experience, and their lives, so we settler Canadians can continue our learning about the history of genocide, residential schools, and of inter-generational impacts of colonization.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Walking Through Fire takes place Saturday and Sunday at Windsor\u2019s Capitol Theatre under the direction of WSO maestro Geoffrey Larson.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>It will include collaborations with Coast Tsm\u2019syen elder and singer-songwriter Shannon Thunderbird, Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk of the M\u00e9tis Fiddler Quartet, and Ojibwe\/Finnish singer-songwriter Marc Meril\u00e4inen (Nadjiwan).<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Guests including Chippewa\/Anishinaabe elder and poet Dr. Duke Redbird, the Northern Cree Pow Wow group, and others who will join Truth and Reconciliation Commission\u2019s 94 \u2018calls to action\u2019 in its final report that asks for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to work together on a path forward.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said a central theme of Walking Through Fire is \u201cthe need for the truth of Indigenous experience to be told before reconciliation can begin in earnest.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe place that we have to start is with truth,\u201d said Redbird. \u201cReconciliation will come sometime way in the future, perhaps, but right now, truth is where we need to begin the journey with each other.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs human beings, we
